What are full or complete dentures?

Full dentures—also called complete dentures—are removable dental prosthetics designed to replace all the teeth in your upper jaw, lower jaw or both. Unlike partial dentures, which only fill gaps while some natural teeth remain, full dentures are made for patients who need to have all their teeth replaced or have lost all of their teeth.

At Aspen Dental, full dentures are custom-made for each patient. Using industry leading precision technology, our teams design dentures that are crafted to:

  • Restore function so you can eat a wider variety of foods again

  • Improve speech by enhancing pronunciation

  • Support your facial structure, helping maintain a fuller, more natural appearance

  • Look and feel natural, with materials and processes chosen for a custom fit

Full dentures, supported by your gums, and are easy to remove for cleaning and care. Many patients choose them because they are a proven, affordable solution for complete tooth loss.

Aspen Dental makes denture care easier

How long do full dentures last?

The lifespan of dentures depends on how well you care for them. Normal wear and tear can also affect comfort, appearance and function.

On average, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends having your dentures examined by a dentist every 5 to 7 years to see if a replacement denture is needed. At Aspen Dental, your dentist can also make adjustments or recommend repairs or relines to keep your smile comfortable along the way.

And for peace of mind, every set of dentures we make is backed by an industry-leading warranty, designed to protect your investment for years to come.

What’s the process of getting full dentures at Aspen Dental?

Your smile deserves more than a one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why at Aspen Dental, we’ve re-imagined the denture process—from first visit to final fit—to make getting your dentures easier, faster and more supportive every step of the way.

Your full dentures questions, answered

Yes, you can enjoy most foods once your mouth adjusts to wearing dentures. Here’s what you need to know to make the transition easier:

  • Start with soft foods:

Begin with options like ground meat, ripe fruits, soft cheeses and pasta. These are gentle on your gums and easy to chew.

  • Avoid sticky or hard foods:

Foods like nuts, caramel or tough meats can be difficult to eat and may cause discomfort or damage to your dentures.

It’s all about giving yourself time to adapt. For extra guidance, Aspen Dental provides practical tips to help you feel more comfortable eating with dentures

No, do not sleep with your dentures in. Removing your dentures at night gives your gums a chance to rest, reducing the risk of irritation and sore spots. It also helps lower the chances of infections caused by bacteria or fungus.

Soaking your dentures overnight in a denture cleaner keeps them clean and removes harmful bacteria. If you notice discomfort, redness or any other issues, reach out to your Aspen Dental care team for guidance.

Yes, many people who wear dentures can benefit from dental implants. Implants provide several advantages, including improved stability so your dentures stay securely in place, greater comfort for everyday wear and a stronger, more reliable bite for eating your favorite foods. In some cases, it’s even possible to upgrade your existing dentures to work with implants.

If you’re curious about whether dental implants are right for you, a consultation at Aspen Dental can help. During your visit, a dental professional will assess your needs and guide you through the available options to find the best fit for your lifestyle.

Without insurance, full dentures can vary in price depending on the materials used and the type of denture you select. Aspen Dental provides financing options through 3rd-party vendors with a 99% approval rate for patients who apply. Learn more about financing here. Plus, we offer a savings plan for those without insurance to help make treatment more accessible.

Everyone’s healing process is different, and factors like your oral health and the number of teeth removed can affect the timing. Your Aspen Dental team will guide you through the process and recommend the best option to ensure your dentures fit comfortably and work effectively. Plus, we make sure you never leave without smile after extractions. We will give you a healing denture as a temporary solution.

Full dentures are removable prosthetics designed to replace all of your teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They’re custom-made to support your gums, allowing you to chew, speak and smile with confidence.

These dentures rest directly on your gums and are crafted with precision to match the shape of your mouth for a secure and comfortable fit. They can also be customized to match the color of your gums and the shade of your teeth, providing a natural-looking smile that feels like your own.
